Home/2006 photos/Yosemite Valley sightseeing

a trip up to Yosemite with Jim Jim decided to come out to San Francisco to do a little sightseeing. I recommended October as the best time to visit as the weather is better and the tourists are fewer. He started his stay with a few days exploring San Francisco and then I took a few days off from work and we head up to Yosemite. I love arriving in the valley at night. It lends an air of mystery as you have no idea what's surrounding you. We pulled in after midnight and fell asleep in a Curry Village tent cabin. The next morning when we awoke the mountains were all around us. After breakfast we hiked up to the top of Vernal falls. We spent the rest of the day hanging around the valley checking out all of the standard tourist sites - Yosemite falls, El Capitan, Half Dome, etc., The next day we drove South and out over Glacier Point to take in the views from there. This was actually my first visit to Glacier Point and I can't believe it! The view is fantastic - not only of the valley but also up to Little Yosemite Valley (hiked with Jim S. in 2004). After Glacier Point we continued down to the grove of trees on the South end of the park before making our way back to San Francisco.
