Home/2010 photos/Mono Lake

Tufas, mountains and birds Along our drive up Hwy. 395 we stopped at Mono Lake to check out the Tufas. We drove out along some of the dirt roads alongside the lake until we found a good spot to pull off and hike around. After having been in the desert for a few days, it was easy to see how Death Valley could have looked with water. The minerals that formed the Tufa and keep the water are very reminiscent of the floor of Death Valley, especially areas like the Devil's Golf Course. After an hour or two of taking photos and walking around we continued our Drive North and back home.
